MIDDLE SCHOOL

GRADE 6th - 8th

Excellence Begins in Middle School

6th Grade - 8th Grade

At PCA Seoul, our middle school program is designed to build a strong academic foundation for the future.
With a double English class, we place a heavy emphasis on developing strong reading, critical thinking, and creative writing skills.
This intentional focus, combined with our accelerated math program,
ensures our students are fully prepared for the academic rigors of high school and for their future academic careers.

Leadership

The Leadership Program at PCA Seoul equips students to become Christ-centered leaders who serve and influence others with integrity.
Through collaboration, self-management, empathy, and responsibility, students learn how to lead by example in both school life and the broader community.

Accelerate to AP

This program develops the advanced academic habits and self-directed analytical skills essential for success in rigorous high school English, specifically preparing students for the AP track.

Our curriculum is designed for students who double up on English credits in middle school to gain an early advantage on the AP path. We provide practical tools for deep textual engagement—including sophisticated annotation, evidence-based argumentation, and timed rhetorical analysis practice.

ITBS (5-7th grades)

Students in grades 5 through 7 participate annually in the
Iowa Test of Basic Skills (ITBS).
This standardized assessment measures student achievement in key areas such as language, reading, math, and science.
The results help guide instruction and allow teachers to provide personalized academic support tailored to each student’s needs.

PSAT (8th grade)

Eighth-grade students take the Preliminary SAT (PSAT) to assess their critical thinking, reading comprehension, and mathematical reasoning skills.
More than just a test, the PSAT serves as an important starting point for college readiness and future career exploration.
Through guided preparation and reflection, PCA Seoul helps students recognize their strengths and set meaningful academic and personal goals for the future.

Middle School Life

  • Academics

Our middle school program uses a team-teaching approach to foster a supportive and engaging learning environment. We design individualized academic schedules to meet each student’s unique needs and support their growth.

Bible Courses: Students explore various books of the Bible, diving into the meaning of Scripture and its practical application to daily life. These courses help students build a foundation of faith and character.

Language Arts: Students engage with a variety of literary genres, analyzing deep connections between text and self, text and other texts, and critically examining the author's point of view and purpose. They strengthen their reading and writing skills at their own pace through dedicated free reading time and IXL diagnostic practice.

Mathematics: We offer an accelerated math pathway designed to prepare students for advanced high school coursework. Students begin Algebra 1 in 7th grade if they are ready, and then progress to Geometry in 8th grade. This preparation ensures students are ready to start Algebra 2 in the 9th grade. We also provide on-level paths tailored to individual student abilities.

Science and STEM Integration: Our science curriculum integrates STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics), promoting inquiry-based learning and hands-on exploration. A dedicated STEM component encourages critical thinking and real-world problem-solving.

Technology Integration: Technology is an essential tool in every student's learning journey. Students use digital tools across all subjects to enhance critical thinking and creativity in meaningful, academic ways.

  • Beyond the Core

At PCA Seoul, our middle school students engage in a variety of Specials and extracurricular experiences that enhance their learning and help them grow as well-rounded individuals.

Students participate in Art, Physical Education (PE), Chinese, and STEM, where they are encouraged to think creatively, stay active, and develop global and practical skills that complement their core academics.

Throughout the school year, students also take part in field trips that connect classroom learning to real-world experiences. These off-campus experiences are designed to inspire curiosity, deepen understanding, and build lasting memories beyond the classroom.

While academics remain at the heart of our program, PCA Seoul values the importance of creativity, exploration, and character development, ensuring that every student is given opportunities to learn, grow, and thrive both inside and outside the classroom.

  • Worship

At PCA Seoul, our AXIS Chapel takes place once a month on Wednesdays, the heart of the week.

It is a special time when our entire school community—students, faculty, and staff—comes together to worship, sing, and hear God’s Word.

Through AXIS, we seek to center our week and our hearts on Christ. Students are encouraged to grow in their faith, reflect on biblical truth, and live out what they learn in their daily lives.

More than just a gathering, AXIS is a cornerstone of who we are as a Christ-centered learning community. It reminds us that education at PCA Seoul is not only about academic excellence, but also about nurturing hearts and shaping lives for God’s purpose.
